ABOUT

History

The school was initiated as a nursery school for the children of the community in the year 1996. With 29 pupils, the class was housed in a small room adjacent to the chapel of the community. When these children reached school age, the parents requested the school head of Bagong Tanyag Elementary School Main to send a teacher for these children and thus Mrs. Josephine Junio became the first teacher of the school. With the effort of the parents and the people of the community and with the help of the Municipal Mayor Rodolfo de Guzman, the first classroom was constructed in 1997. School Year 2002-2003. Save the Children US Foundation, a non-government organization adopted the school and constructed the first structure of the school which is now called “Save the Children Building”. To help accommodate the school’s growing enrolment, the GPTA through its fund raising activities, purchased a piece of property which was used as a classroom. The succeeding years, the GPTA fund was channeled in improving the said property which eventually became 2 classrooms, office and canteen. The structure was then the PTA Building 1. School Year 2003-2004, the school was officially named Bagong Tanyag Elementary School Annex and later became Bagong Tanyag Elementary School Annex A. The universalization of Kindergarten and the continuous growing enrolment became a predicament of the school. In 2011, the GPTA in cooperation with the teachers raised funds and bought another piece of property which housed the Kinder classes. This was then called PTA Bldg. 2. School Year 2012-2013, the school was awarded two “My School House” from The City Government of Taguig. To maximize the space, 1 “My School House” was divided into 2 classrooms, thus, the school was able to conduct classes on 2-shift basis. Year 2015, another “My School House” was awarded. The school has now 11 classrooms excluding the 4 improvised classrooms in our covered court. Last May 2016, the construction of a 20-classroom 4 storey building started. This building serves as an inspiration not only to our teachers but also to our pupils. This project was made possible through the unwavering support to education of our beloved City Mayor Ma. Laarni Cayetano and through the effort and concern of the present schoolhead Mrs. Celia A. Zuniga. This coming September 8, 2017, classes will soon be held on the said building.
